As a city we stimulate our citizens to be socially involved and physically active. Eindhoven has much to offer in the areas of sports, education and recreation. Many people spend their free time in community activities; especially older residents who attend leisure clubs or other informal organized networks. These groups need spaces to organize their activities and the city has a myriad of options to offer. Eindhoven is looking for ways to improve access to this information as well as to add the extra value of what is already on offer and what activities the public spaces are suitable for.
Currently, some of this information is available at www.welzijneindhoven.nl but we want to take this further and create a one-stop shop for the sharing of all public spaces and the activities that take place in them. We want to extend the platform to involve schools, parks and civic centres and to be inspired by what other spaces can be shared – perhaps parking spaces, allotments, rooms for the homelesss, football pitches or much more. Solutions should also be suitable for informal, neighborhood-based activities like card groups or knitting circles. And, of course, one of the most important features is user-friendly accessibility to enable the service to reach as many citizens as possible.
Solutions could offer web or sms–based forms of communicating the information, apps or a one-stop-shop platform. Not all the data is available yet; this is a platform that will grow over time as we learn to better share and inspire the citizens of Eindhoven with their public facilities.
